Fox’s New “Fringe” Blends FBI and Sci-Fi Drama
A cutting-edge FBI drama is on its way to us, courtesy of Fox, J.J. Abrams, Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci called, Fringe.
Amazing actors, Tomas Arana, Kirk Acevedo and Mark Valley are tapped for this FBI drama with sci-fi elements. Nice combination, eh? The installment will begin as a two-hour pilot to air on Fox. Here’s all the details, including pictures of the actors.
The Plot
Fringe features “a young female FBI agent who must confront the spread of unexplained phenomena by working with an institutionalized scientist whose work might be at the center of the coming storm”, as reported by Hollywood Reporter. It sounds like it will be an interesting pairing between a tough agent and a quirky scientist. Fox may just have a knack for blending FBI and Sci-Fi drama.
Tomas Arana will portray the head of the Fringe division, a special agent for Homeland Security. The Fringe Division investigates terrorist/paranormal events.
Kirk Acevedo and actor Mark Valley will portray FBI agents.
The Actors
Kirk Acevedo, known for his work as Nicky on The Black Donnellys, and HBO’s OZ, has also worked on Band Of Brothers, (and a score of TV crime drama programs). Mark Valley is best known for portraying Brad Chase on Boston Legal, (and a small role on another of my favorite TV shows, The 4400.
Tomas Arana is best known for his work in The Bourne Supremacy, Gladiator, and The Last Temptation of Christ. I remember him vividly as the shooter, Portman, in The Bodyguard. (That was some scene between him and Whitney Houston).
There’s a lot of talent on this project, from the writing to the directing (Alex Graves) to the acting, so it has a pretty good shot at being great.
