Mandy Patinkin Can Go Home Again
If you have a gift, its been given so you can share it. Can an Emmy award winning and Golden Globe nominated actor find his way back to us? Mandy Patinkin recently used his golden voice to get back into performing a one-man show in L.A., but when will he return to television?
Being a fan of Criminal Minds brought some real angst when the actor left the show. The reported reason was due to creative differences, and we can respect those. In spite of this, the plot really stood up to the change, and is better for it since Mandy’s character, Jason Gideon left.
Joe Mantegna portraying the old-school BAU creator has given the show new life. In many ways, the creators and writers of the series did an excellent job of not letting Mandy’s departure upset the apple wagon. As another writer reminded us, Mandy had also left the cast of Chicago Hope in much the same way, and this departure put many fans out in the cold. Notably, I was a casualty, as I could no longer watch the series after he was gone.
I suspect many fans miss his presence, and probably feel that he just belongs on TV. So Mandy, if you’re reading, we hope to see you again soon.

I loved Mandy Patinkin on Criminal Minds, but I have to agree, it’s actually better since he left. I dreaded what kind of over the top plotlines they were going to pull with Joe Mantegna, but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. The writers on this show are excellent – and I’m pleased with the character development they have done thus far.
I think Msndy should come bsck as an unsub.
