CBS’s Crime Drama "Flashpoint" Coming This Fall
First there was the BAU, and now we have the SRU! CBS’s new police drama, called Flashpoint (a working title for now) follows a group of highly skilled police officers, trained in negotiation, profiling and diffusing situations to save lives.
This story of the SRU or Strategic Response Unit has been called “an emotional journey into the tough, risk-filled lives of a group of cops”. Its premise is inspired by the very real Toronto Emergency Task Force. If you like seeing the drama of gang busting, bomb defusing, hostages being rescued and suicidal people talked down, this may be the show for you.
Production is set to begin for 13 episodes in April in Toronto, and the series will debut later this year on CBS and CTV. This project was originally developed for a Canadian audience, however, CBS Paramount and CTV have come together to bring viewers this series.
It sounds very cool, and the cast so far are Enrico Colantoni (Just Shoot Me!, Veronica Mars), Hugh Dillon(Assault On Precinct 13) and David Paetkau. Notably, David has a horror background, and seems to be best known for his role as Evan Lewis in Final Destination 2 (the guy who met his end via the ladder… yikes). He also worked on Alien vs. Predator: Requiem.
So, what do you think about this series so far?
