Douglas’ "Mind Hunter" Helps Answer Why They Kill
The FBI has an Elite Serial Crime Unit, and its role is that of solving some of the country’s most shocking serial murder and rape cases. This is all according to the book written by John Douglas and Mark Olshaker, called Mind Hunter: Inside The FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit.
Chemistry and the mechanical workings of the brain are the speciality of this unit, and in the book’s 397 pages is a chronicle of John Douglas’ 25 year career with the FBI. It is said to contain non-fiction with a case of unsolved murder.
Douglas is not only a former FBI agent, but is one of the first criminal profilers. His books and work on some high profile cases have been both instrumental and acclaimed.
The book “Mindhunter” offers some understanding of how to do a good profile as well as lends view into an explanation of why killers such as Charles Manson and others decide to commit murder.
Although this is a non-fiction book, it seems that the advice given is in the form of narrative since it chronicles the life of a real FBI agent, so I would not expect a textbook style of writing. However, if you’d like to know how a real criminal profiler thinks, this book may be perfect.

Did you ever see a movie called “Mind Hunters”?
It stars LL Cool J,Val Kilmer, and Kathryn Morris
Forgive the msn copy and paste synopsis
Val Kilmer stars as Harris, an FBI official teaching a group of trainees the art of profiling serial killers. He takes them on a weekend retreat to a deserted island for some supplemental simulation exercises in which they catch a fake killer. When some FBI trainees get killed for real, the rest figure the murderer must be one of them. Class leader Sara (Kathryn Morris) must try to stay alive long enough to figure out if one of her colleagues is the murderer. Is it Gabe (LL Cool J), J.D. Reston (Christian Slater), Bobby (Eion Bailey), Rafe (Will Kemp), Lucas (Jonny Lee Miller), Vince (Clifton Collins Jr.), or Nicole (Patricia Velazquez)? ~ Andrea LeVasseur,
