"Numb3rs" Producer Port Writing "Streets" Remake

San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge Numb3rs producer Robert Port along with Sheldon Turner and CBS are making San Francisco safe again with a revisit of the The Streets of San Francisco, the 1970’s TV crime drama.

Will this trifecta of talent pay off, and what are the chances of this being as popular as other series that are and have been making their way back to TV? Only time will tell. Per THR, the plan is to update the series so that it portrays the “same tension” between generations (Vietnam war vs. Iraq war) but to still have the same feel as the original show.

What will really be interesting to see is who as actors will take over the “suavity” of Michael Douglas and Karl Malden. After all, the veteran cop coolness of Karl Malden and the fresh meat appeal of Michael Douglas’ character, (who was a college grad with no real experience in the world of detective work) may be hard to come by.

By the way, if you’d like to check out the actual theme opening for the old show, you can see it here, but I should warn you, it’s a part of the 70s timewarp!
