"Frost/Nixon" Images & Trailer Take Us To FBI’s Watergate

If you’re familiar with the Watergate scandal, and find the FBI investigations surrounding it compelling, you may want to check out the latest film directed by Ron Howard, Frost/Nixon. Get ready for the “Tricky Dick” remarks and the 1970’s hair and shirt collars!

Joining Langella and Sheen as the colorful real-life personalities who provide the men counsel is a formidable roster of actors including Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt, Sam Rockwell, Toby Jones and Matthew Macfadyen.

In 1977, Richard Nixon was interviewed by British TV broadcaster David Frost, and it was in one of these interviews that he admitted some guilt in the Watergate Scandal. Frost/Nixon is a re-telling of the fated interview, and the behind the scenes negotiations that took place to make the interview happen. the film is scheduled for a limited release on December 5, 2008 in the US. You can check out the official site soon, at www.frostnixon.net.

The film stars stars Frank Langella (as President Nixon) and Michael Sheen (as David Frost), and some other amazing and untouchable talent (Kevin Bacon and Oliver Platt among others). Directed and produced by Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, respectively, the film origins stem from a play of the same name by Peter Morgan (The Last King Of Scotland).

Joining Langella and Sheen as the colorful real-life personalities who provide the men counsel is a formidable roster of actors including Kevin Bacon, Oliver Platt, Sam Rockwell, Toby Jones and Matthew Macfadyen.

The FBI investigations were key, as they revealed not only the burglary of the Watergate Hotel, but other crimes that include campaign fraud, and illegal tax audits.

I’m not sure if the current political climate has spurred this project onward, which will make this seem like another attempt by liberal Hollywood to preach to us.  I hope it’s just an attempt at making a good movie (with some good FBI portrayals of course).
