Numb3rs: A Question of An Edgerton Spin-Off
The Numb3rs character, Ian Edgerton (Lou Diamond Phillips) seems to
have garnered a good bit of interest with fans of the show.
In more news on the series front, the rumor mill has always been engaged with talk of a spin-off series being created, featuring Edgerton, and his role as expert tracker and sniper.
Although there has been no official word, the fact that his character returns this season could be just the thing to get the ball rolling. In an interview with TV Guide in 2005, Philips said that even before his first appearance on the show as Ian Edgerton, he has always loved the series, and was impressed with the cast from the start.
Phillips, like many actors, has always looked for unique roles, and he says that he would love to do something unique, and unlike the role of his good friend Kiefer Sutherland in 24.
No matter how successful a show may be, the idea of a spin-off can be a risky proposition. For now, I’m satisfied to have Phillips back on the Numb3rs. The number of episodes in which he’ll be featured is unknown, however, having Phillips on Numb3rs adds a new level of excitement and complexity to the plot and the series. It’s also nice to have yet another hot male (and veteran) actor on the show.
