The Shield: Final Season Begins This Week
The Shield is not an FBI drama. Let’s get that out there. It is however, one of the best crime dramas on cable. Sure, it’s depraved, and depicts a Los Angeles police strike team at its worst, using illegal methods to police the streets of LA.
The real bad news is that The Shield is ending. The good news is that it ends the same way it started…faithful and true to form, full of grit and dark. The seventh season of The Shield begins on Tuesday night, September 2 at 9:00 PM on FX, and continues with Mackey confronting Shane Vendrell, who has taken his family hostage.
I have a love-hate relationship with Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis), and on two counts. He could be deemed the ultimate family man, one who will do whatever is necessary to care for and protect his family. On the other hand, he will do anything to protect his family, even if it goes against the badge. This final season will determine Vick’s ultimate fate.
Whether you love the amazing cast, or the guest stars, Glenn Close and Forest Whitaker in earlier seasons, you can’t beat The Shield for its controversy, all-around realism, and multiple story lines.
