Video: Joe Mantegna Hanging With Ringo Starr
Criminal Minds star Joe Mantegna was recently at an event in LA and he pulled out his iPhone to show Pacific Coast News a picture of him and Ringo Starr. I had some issues with the video playing here, however you can see the full video at TheNewsroom.com. Update: Check out this video of his character, Agent David Rossi, as he first meets the whole BAU team on Criminal Minds:
I was stoked (just as Joe seems to be in the other video) that Ringo loves the show. Read more about what Mantegna has to say about Ringo, how he got the picture, and music in general.
Mantegna reveals that when he was a presenter at the Grammy Awards show two years ago, he felt someone tugging on his sleeve, and heard this English accented voice, say, “Solving anymore crime lately?”. So he turns around and it’s Ringo Starr. Mantegna, visibly excited, introduces himself, and Starr says “I know who you are, I watch the show”.
Mantegna also tells a bit about his eclectic musical tastes, and talks about being in a band in the 60’s. He says his taste ranges from Tony Bennett and Frank Sinatra to the Beatles, The Rolling Stones, to Insane Clown Posse. He says he loves all music, from opera, jazz, classical to metal, and that it just depends on what catches his ear. He also mentions some of the reaction he gets when he’s on the set of Criminal Minds (when they hear his music playing). It sounds like Mantegna is not only a great actor, but a pretty fun guy to have around.
Mantegna is best known for his roles in The Godfather Part III, Baby’s Day Out, Three Amigos, Up Close And Personal, and The Simpson’s Movie. His recent TV roles include his recurring role on Criminal Minds, and other roles in The Starter Wife and Joan of Arcadia.
One of my favorites roles for him is his voice role as Mob Boss Fat Tony in The Simpsons. What’s your favorite?
