If you saw the episode last night, it seemed a bit like a final episode with all the role reprisals (Martin Landau and Adam Kaufman). The series has been described as a veteran modest performer, ratings wise, however, many fans still love the show. I’ve even seen a few online petitions for fans who want it back.

Some are saying the series never had a chance, as it was being pre-empted constantly. Some fans also say the series was just starting to move again, but the writers simply wrote out all the intrigue.

Other crime drama series to get the ax by CBS are the newbie, Eleventh Hour, and The Unit.

So now that Without A Trace is gone, do you agree with some who say it was time for the series to go after 7 seasons, or do you think the series was canceled prematurely, or wrongly canceled? What did you think about last night’s finale episode, called Undertow?

Roselyn Sanchez was recently sued by her ex-managers, Collective Management Group, and they claim she owes money in commission payments for her work on Without A Trace. Both she and the company have responded back and forth on the matter.

She says they were paid and are not entitled to the fees they claim. They say she owes commissions and fees for her role in the film, Yellow. Is Sanchez being treated unfairly, or is she trying to ignore her obligations?

Keifer Sutherland’s head-butting incident (he “head-butted” a fashion designer inside a Manhattan night club recently) has already been mulled over much in the news. He was basically arrested for what amounts to a speeding ticket. The latest is a plea from actress Brook Shields, who some say is the reason for the incident. She says the media has put an unfair spotlight on her because of this incident.

I suspect Sutherland and Shields are both reasonable people, and I have a general distrust and dislike for paparazzi because they do bad things. However, in the scheme of things, do you think Shields is secretly glad to have this attention? After all, the last big media story about her seems to be her tiff over comments made by Tom Cruise, and some blurbs about her alleged Cougar status.

Notably, David’s Krumholtz’s family and friends can not only celebrate his birthday tomorrow, but they can do it in style by watching the season finale episode of Numb3rs which airs Friday May 15, at 9:00 PM on CBS.

I’m particularly fond of his role as Charlie Eppes, but Krumholtz is also know for roles in Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay, Demption, and Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story.

Eric Close portrays Agent Martin Fitzgerald on Without A Trace. Close directed the latest episode of WAT, called True, which aired this week on Tuesday May 12.

Although I’m a fan of Close as an FBI agent, I admit that his roles in two sci-fi series were also my favorites (Taken and Dark Skies).

As Agent Fitzgerald on Without A Trace, he’s been through a lot. From a questionable shooting incident in Season 2, to an office romance, an estranged relationship with his dad, and a painkiller addiction in Season 4, Fitzgerald seems to have done it all.

Check out where some of our favorite FBI drama stars are when they’re not on set!  Criminal Minds star Matthew Gray Gubler gets under the microscope – for sleep’s sake. Shemar Moore and Thomas Gibson share their favorite vacation spots, Navi Rawat has a guide for tripping through Miami, and Eric Close and wife head to South America for what else? Wine of course!

Matthew Gray Gubler took part in what has been called the Sleeping Beauty boot camp, but is actually a promotion sponsored jointly by the Ritz Carlton Berlin and the sleep lab at Berlin’s Charite University.

Judging from the pictures, and the “rigorous” ordeal they put Gubler through, it all leaves me wanting special comfy socks, eyeshades, wine tasting, and even the 30 minute workout that President Barack Obama recently had at that same hotel’s spa. See all the pictures here.

Shemar Moore isn’t shy about confessing his love for Montreal and Toronto. He says to talk to him in a few years about Honolulu, Bora Bora, and the South of France. Sounds like he’s ready for some new adventures.

Thomas Gibson says that Italy is the place to be, and reveals he was so impressed by a little town called Ravello, in Florence, that he’s invested in a real pizza oven, and soon “pizza making” classes for his house in L.A.

Finally, Numb3rs star Navi Rawat gives the what-what on where to do (stuff), dine, and shop in the hot city of Miami. If you’re heading to Miami, check out Navi’s guide here.

In this latest news round-up, speculation ensues on what changes the networks will announce in the coming months for shows like Without A Trace and Cold Case. Some networks look to Canada for fresh programming, and economic benefits, and actor Mark Wahlberg gets involved in what is perhaps one of our old favorites:

Wahlberg’s “Prisoners” – Same Old Hat?

What’s wrong with this picture? A new script for a dark crime thriller called Prisoners has caught the attention (and commitment) of actor Mark Wahlberg and all the major studios in Hollywood.  The project is said to resemble the likes of films, Seven, and The Silence of The Lambs. The problem? The plot centers on the story of a Boston man who takes the law into his own hands after his six year-old daughter and best friend are kidnapped.

Unfortunately this sounds like a few other films (i.e. Mel Gibson’s latest project, Liam Neeson’s Taken, and others..) we’ve seen. Being the optimist, I’ll wait to the see the finished project, but so far it sounds like more of the same hard boiled plot. I applaud the fact this comes from a fresh and previously unknown writer (Aaron Guzikowski).

Your favorite crime drama shows are always in danger of being…messed with.

Just ask any fan of these canceled series: The Shield, Prison Break (just a few episodes left…and poof), Life On Mars, Eli Stone, Boston Legal, Battlestar Galactica, etc.).

In a few weeks, networks announce the series line-ups (upfronts), so some shows may either be moved, postponed, or (*gasp*) canceled. Variety reports the series Eleventh Hour will be giving up its nightly spot to a new CBS mystery series called Harper’s Island in April. There’s also speculation that Without A Trace, Cold Case or The Unit could sit on the bench in the fall.

Does NBC and CBS need economic stimulus?

Bloomberg is reporting both networks have turned to Canadian TV to reduce their prime-time programming costs. Evidently, U.S. networks have made shows in Canada for years to get tax benefits. And we thought it was just because the shows were so good.

Some of the examples mentioned in the article are CBS/CTV’s Flashpoint, and two new up -and-comer crime series, The Bridge, and The Listener. It’s no surprise networks are seeking frugality as advertising revenue goes down. However this all adds up, viewers who have increasingly beefed up their TV time here in the U.S. still get the best end of the deal…awesome programming.

LaPaglia reveals all sorts of stuff, including his impressive set of tattoos!

Although known for film roles such as Det. Lou Petrocelli in Summer of Sam, Joe Reaves in Empire Records, and Simon Moon on TV’s Frasier, he’s best known as the hard-nosed Special Agent in Charge of the Missing Person’s Unit on Without A Trace, Agent Jack Malone.

LaPaglia talks about how much he loves portraying comedic roles despite the huge success of the show. He does his best impression of his sweet daughter, and reveals a bit of what it was like for him in the early days of acting and just starting out. He’s a very charming and funny guy, and it’s no wonder his wife is so supportive (she trades a few barbs herself with Lipton from the audience…).

Another bit he reveals is about his decision to accept his role on Without A Trace years ago, and he talks about the series, which is now in its seventh season, and renewed for season 8.

Without A Traces character Martin Fitzgerald is getting an on-screen love interest. That lucky lady is actor Vanessa Marcil (General Hospital, Las Vegas). According to TV Guide, her character develops a deep love for Martin, but they must overcome a secret she’s been hiding. I wonder what it could be. Here’s a short video clip of Trace’s Agent Malone talking a guy back across the border:

Criminal Minds‘ writer Mark Bruner is featured in a Vienna Connection article about his work and first produced script, the latest episode called Bloodline. The episode is about a family of serial killers that live in a small Alabama town. Bruner describes himself as “…just your average nerdy kid”. The story of how he became a writer for the show is quite inspiring for those who have ever wanted to write for television, or just be a part of a cool FBI drama.

The Beast megastar Patrick Swayze has decided to write his memoirs for posterity. He’s been fighting pancreatic cancer, and starring in his new FBI drama series on A&E. His wife Lisa is also going to collaborate on his book. Although it hasn’t yet been picked up by a publisher, the book is sure to be a success.

CSI: Miami’s star Rory Cochran will be taking a bite out of 24 later in the season. He’ll portray a henchman of Jon Voight’s evil character on the show.

There’s confirmation that The Mentalist’s characters Jane (Simon Baker) and Lisbon (Robin Tunney) will not develop a love relationship anytime soon, and for now, their most wanted and evil suspect Red John will continue to be on the lam, according to the show creator, Bruno Heller.

Jerry Bruckheimer

So hasn’t this already been done, you may ask, with the old TV series, Miami Vice? Well, maybe, but HBO is known for its original and gritty programming. This series may prove to be Miami Vice on speed.

Bruckheimer is also the executive producer for CBS crime series, Eleventh Hour, and Cold Case. Notably, he’s producing a new drama fantasy starring Nicholas Cage, called The Sorcerer’s Apprentice. As an aside, it sounds like Mr. Cage is taking a break from portraying the guy who knows everything (National Treasure, Bangkok Dangerous, Next, etc.)…or is he?

Kudos for Mr. Bruckheimer taking a step in the 1980s Miami drug scene, and in the meantime, let’s hope the series is as influential as Vice was in its time.

You can’t see much of her amazing wedding dress over over at celebgossipz.com, except for the veil. The couple’s plan is to honeymoon in the Mayan Rivera.

Back in July, there was a big to-do about her InStyle Wedding photo shoot, and in the video, she talked about her need for being “classic” as opposed to sexy when it comes to fashion. You can catch a glimpse of her 4.3 carat diamond ring here.

Sanchez has just completed work in a new comedic feature film called Venus & Vegas, which stars Eddie K. Thomas (Nick And Nora’s Infinite Playlist), Donald Faison (Scrubs) and Eddie Guerra. In it, three crooks must get through a burglary gone wrong, … and navigate their relationships at the same time. You can see the images from the film at the Venus & Vegas MySpace site.
