NBC has renewed this new police drama, for 13 episodes. From the emotionally charged Detective Lydia Adams (Regina King) to the seasoned training cop John Cooper (Michael Cudlitz), the characters and series have charmed enough viewers into NBC saying yes.

The seven episodes that have premiered so far focus on what happens between LAPD patrol officers and detectives. One thing that’s driven the show so well thus far is that it’s pretty much character driven. The Emmy winning writer, Ann Biderman has let the other shows handle all the police process, science, math, and has put together some characters that interact well…that we like. Not only that, we can relate to something in all of these characters, and it’s that there their job is not their sole existence.

I like knowing that Detective Adams cares so much about the cases, and I like that the rookie cop is questioning his worth. On that last point, it could be a bit overdone if not careful, but so far, I’m caught up in this one.

As for ratings, the series started out strong, and leveled off a bit, but as a viewer, ratings only go so far. I’m happy the ratings have yielded a new crop (second season). You can watch Southland on Thursdays at 10:00 PM on NBC. (Hollywood Reporter)

Post from: FBI Dramas

"SVU" To Lose Hargitay and Meloni?

Actors

General Crime Drama

Law & Order

Video Clips

Chris Meloni

Chris Noth

Ferras

law & order: svu

mariska hargitay

NBC

Vincent D'Onofrio

Would SVU be the same without Detectives Benson and Stabler? NBC is mulling over replacing actors Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni on Law & Order: SVU if they continue to ask for higher salaries. Detectives Benson and Stabler have become staples of this series.

Now that the 11th season of SVU had become an inked deal, the actor’s current contracts expire in May, and that leaves room for the stars to renegotiate new deals. According to Ausiello at EW, the show is not too keen on offering back-end profits, a rare perk, unless you are Vincent D’Onofrio or Chris Noth.

A high ranking TV executive at a rival network says there’s no chance NBC will bring a new season without these stars. You can read the full story at EW.com

The actors are currently under $350K per episode contracts, and if they get what they want, it could be more than over a $7 million a year. Will you continue to watch the series if Hargitay and Meloni are replaced, and how do you feel about actor’s salaries in general? The song in the fan video above is called Rush, performed by Ferras.

Post from: FBI Dramas
